What we saw at Mobile World Congress – part 1

1 March 2024

It’s Friday and Telecom26’s global connectivity team are travelling back from Mobile World Congress having met with many current and potential customers and partners.

As ever, the news cycle was dominated by the tier 1 operators, and vendors with announcements galore. https://www.telecoms.com/ and https://www.mobileworldlive.com/ are our go-to news sites. The Swiss Ambassador in Spain visited our stand (see photo) and apparently the President of Paraguay was there too.

As an Operator Member of the GSMA, Telecom26’s show team were also busy, busy, busy with lots of interest in our new and existing services including:

  • Enterprise Data Extra service which provides dependable, secure mobile data connectivity while you are travelling and away from your home networks.
  • Our new LPAd solution for routers which you can read about here: LPAd – what it is, why it’s important and meeting up at MWC to discuss. If you’re a little confused about whether your routers need LPAd, then please get in touch.
  • Our new integrated GPS tracking analytics platform which will make life much easier for businesses that need to track their vehicles, products, and people as they move around the world – and the IT and comms teams that support them.

Please click here to read our previous blog which explains how, whether you are tracking a car, container or chihuahua, Telecom26’s approach provides near-real time global visibility of

During Mobile World Congress we also attended various programmes including:

  • The Satellite and Non Terrestrial Networks Summit where we discussed our plans to expand global IoT connectivity to include NB-IoT. Satellite to cellular integration is an important issue for the industry - and one we're actively working on as there are still gaps in satellite coverage for even the most prominent networks.

Closing these gaps will take several years. Meanwhile hybrid solutions are necessary. For example a customer of ours uses Telecom26 cellular networks for mobile nearshore backup when they move out of Satellite coverage range. We see both technologies working together to provide seamless connectivity proving that companies should ensure they invest in both options.
